Why Your Small Business NEEDS a Website

Why does my business need a website?

You’ve already done so much work and invested so much time and money in the brick and mortar side of your small business, so why do you need to invest more in an online presence? Isn’t having a storefront and phone number enough? What about just having a Facebook page?

A Website is Essential

Today, the internet plays a crucial role in nearly every aspect of our decision making, from what we wear to where we eat. You should definitely have a strong presence on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, but these channels are no substitute for having your own website. A good website is your brand’s showcase. It’s where anyone and everyone will go to see what you do, how you do it, and why they should do business with you. Your website is arguably the most important marketing asset that your business will have.

While having a strong presence on Facebook and Instagram is extremely important in staying competitive in today’s landscape, this isn’t a substitute to having a great website. Keep in mind that even though social media pages are one of the most effective ways to communicate with your audience and market to potential customers, the first place that people are going to search for your business is on Google.

Going Where the Attention Is

Even when people start hearing about your small business through word of mouth, they’re going to want to learn more before doing business with you. Having a website gives them a source of reference where they can gather information before making a purchasing decision.

Ultimately, having a website is going to serve your business in countless ways. Although social media is important, it is a compliment, not a replacement, to having a great website.
